Secondly, it was very significant for me to meet the people working in the Community-based Rehabilitation projects (RBC) that the Christian Blind Mission supports. Talking with them and listening to their experiences, I felt very small and I marveled at what they have been able to achieve under the highly challenging conditions that characterize their work and with the small amount of resources that they have to carry out their activities. I was very interested in knowing more about RBC and how it is done because the workers in this field are truly the ones bringing hope to handicapped people in Central America’s rural communities.
These individuals as well as the knowledge I acquired during the course motivated me to keep working and looking for ways to be able to offer our services beyond the limits of Oaxaca City. However, it also made me realize the huge challenge that we have as professionals trying to change the situation of children with hearing loss in Mexico. I know that the path ahead will not be easy, but with the efforts of organizations like CORAL we have the ability to change many children’s futures and promote the prevention of hearing impairment by bringing attention to these issues within our own country.
Thank you to CORAL and CBM for this great opportunity and for continuing to dedicate your efforts to the people who need it most.”
