New book: "Assessment of Special Education Services of Oaxaca"

The State Institute of Public Education in Oaxaca (IEEPA) has just published a book that is the first of its kind in Mexico: "Assessment of Special Education Services of the State of Oaxaca."

This 235- page text is a compilation of surveys, data, analysis and discussions about the current situation of Special Education as well as strategies for achieving the objectives and goals set forth for the creation of a state program to promote Inclusive Education.

During the presentation of the book in Oaxaca´s Casa de la Ciudad on February 6, the IEEPA´s Head of Elementary Education, Valentín Pedro Pablo Carrillo, stressed that the document was tackling a difficult issue: building a collective vision for special education. He commented that the methodological process to carry out the assessment and the resultant data yielded surprising results, revealing a way forward to improve educational services for youth who require special attention.
