Contributors from all levels of Basic Education were asked to discuss, plan, develop and take forward these initiatives to benefit the country´s children. Public and private institutions, different levels of government, parents and all people involved were called upon to fulfill their responsibilities to society and work together to make progress in the coming school year.
Criticism and self-criticism are present in the book, giving a voice to those who work in the sector. It draws special attention to school coverage in the area, infrastructure and the organization and diversity of educational services, stressing the necessity to comply with the fundamental rights of people with different capabilities, as established at international, national and local levels.
The presentation included commentaries by the President of Interamerican Inclusion and Board Member of Inclusion International, Raquel Jelinek; World Bank Consultant on Special Education Issues, Martha Ezcurra; and the Director of Curriculum Development for the Sub-Secretariat of Basic Education, Noemi Garcia.
Two thousand copies were printed and distributed free of charge to teaching staff, officials and parents involved in special education.
